Decarb Annealing Furnaces by Therelek Engineers

Vacuum Annealing Furnace with precision vacuum chamber for bright annealing of metal components. Trusted Vacuum Annealing Furnace Providers delivering oxidation-free heat treatment results.

Decarb annealing is a controlled decarburization heat-treatment process used to improve the metallurgical and mechanical properties of metallic components by modifying their microstructure. The process involves gradually heating the material to the required annealing temperature & maintaining it for a specified soaking period to ensure uniform heat penetration depth, and then cooling it at a controlled rate. Precise temperature control, uniform heating and controlled cooling are essential to achieve the required hardness, ductility, stress relief and dimensional stability while minimizing the , cracking, oxidation etc. and controlled decarburization. Depending on the material and application, protective atmospheres or suitable surface-protection methods can also be incorporated into the furnace system.

A critical requirement during heat treatment is the control of decarburization, particularly for components where surface hardness and mechanical properties are closely controlled. The depth of decarburization shall be determined by performing a microhardness traverse. Proper furnace atmosphere control, temperature uniformity and process control are therefore essential to minimize decarburization and ensure compliance with the specified heat-treatment requirements.

Therelek Engineers Pvt. Ltd. designs and manufactures customized decarb annealing furnaces for industrial heat-treatment applications. Our furnace systems can be engineered according to the required working temperature, chamber size, charge capacity, heating zones, temperature uniformity, soaking cycle and controlled cooling requirements. Advanced temperature-control and monitoring systems help provide consistent and repeatable decarb annealing results for steel and other metallic components.

For parts heat treated to less than 220ksi, the depth of partial decarburization after all heat treat operations, shall not exceed 0.13mm. The depth of decarburization shall be determined by making a microhardness traverse.

For parts heat treated to 220ksi and above, the depth of decarburization after all heat treat operations shall not exceed 0.08mm inches on any surface.
